"David Leach Research Station: Northeast Ohio's Horticultural Hidden Gem"
Presented by: Connor Ryan, Leach Research Station
Tucked away just a mile south of Lake Erie in Madison, Ohio, the David G. Leach Research Station is a 30-acre, semi-private rhododendron breeding and conservation facility founded in 1970.
Towering trees, a Lake-moderated climate, and sandy, acidic soils make the station one of the best sites for rhododendron cultivation in our area.
Affiliated with Holden Forests and Gardens since 1986, the station has introduced over 80 rhododendrons to the nursery trade and more recently has taken on a role in wild rhododendron conservation.
Rhododendron Collections Manager Connor Ryan will share about the work done at the station, showcasing breeding and conservation efforts conducted over more than 70 years.
